It’s an APA year. For the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra staff this is an alternative moniker or, perhaps, sub-title for the ICO’s 2012-2013 season. The American Pianists Association’s 5-concert Premiere Series has a big and important impact on the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. Operationally, the Premiere Series is a 5-concert “mini-series” added to the ICO’s 7-concert “Intimate-Classic-Original” subscription series. This is also true for the ICO audience; a piano series added to the ICO’s series of Classical Masterworks and Pops. Artistically, Maestro Trevor and the ICO musicians look forward to working with these exciting young performers who are classical music’s future.
After watching the APA’s team of judges diligently evaluate hundreds of submissions, it will be exciting to meet the five finalists. By virtue of their selection, they are extraordinarily talented. If past finalists are any indication, they are also teaming with artistic ideas and developing their unique artistic styles. The ICO is honored to be an artistic partner to this wonderful national competition.
